we do matters. Join us!Job SummaryThe Risk Mitigation Officer is
responsible for investigating, evaluating, reporting, and managing
personal injury and property damage claims involving CN's business
assets.Main ResponsibilitiesInvestigate Incidents--- Travel to
incident or injury sites, ascertain facts, report and maintain
files on personal injury and property damage matters--- Perform
safety audits--- Manage to conclusion all injury or property damage
claims for employees and other third partiesCounselling--- Provide
in-house and outside counsel with a Claim file investigation to
support CN's legal defence strategy and assist in claim
resolution--- Act as CN's representative in depositions, settlement
conferences, mediations and trialsNegotiations and Settlements---
Negotiate and collect settlements for damages sustained by the
organizationPrevention--- Work closely with injured employees,
their supervisors and third parties to determine cause and prevent
recurrence--- Assist injured employees in obtaining quality
careWorking ConditionsThe position has irregular working conditions
and can be performed indoors and outdoors in various types of
weather and environmental conditions. The incumbent must be
available to work shifts and weekends when necessary. The role
requires being available on-call 24/7 to respond to scene
investigations within the territory. Due to the nature of the role,
the incumbent must be able to meet tight deadlines, handle pressure
and manage stress. The role requires occasional (20-30%) travel
throughout the United States. The incumbent must pass
pre-employment drug tests.RequirementsExperienceInvestigations ---
Minimum 1 year of overall work experience o Experience in claims
investigation, reporting, evaluation and negotiationo Experience
with occupational medical terminology and treatment
protocolsEducation/Certification/Designation--- Bachelor's Degree
in Business, Risk Management, Communications or Occupational
Health--- Valid Driver's LicenceCompetencies--- Follows safety
procedures, information security instructions and Environmental,
Social and Governance (ESG) principles to lead by example---
Addresses risks in a timely manner to eliminate them---
Collaborates with key internal stakeholders to enable higher
productivity--- Inspires others with impactful communications and
adapts to the audience--- Makes informed and timely decisions to
get things done--- Tracks metrics to achieve ambitious targets and

expectations--- Deals with pressure and change by staying calm to
quickly adapt to changesTechnical Skills/Knowledge--- Knowledge of
Tort Law, including Federal Employer's Liability Act (FELA), Safety
Appliance Act and Boiler Inspection Act--- Knowledge of Microsoft
Office (Word and Excel)--- Understanding of trial procedures and
strategy*--- Knowledge of railroad operations, including operating
and safety rules**Any knowledge for any of the above would be
